The coverage that matters most

Riders depend on other drivers' insurance more than anyone. When a driver turns left across your lane, your injuries are paid by their liability, if they have enough, or by your own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. For most riders we suggest UM and UIM at the same limits as liability. Why it matters most on a bike.

What a motorcycle policy can include

What affects your price

The type of bike (sport bikes usually cost more than cruisers), engine size, your age, riding experience, driving record and where the bike is garaged. Completing a motorcycle safety course can earn a discount with some companies.

Winter

Many policies are priced with riding season in mind, so cancelling for the winter often saves less than expected and drops theft and storage protection. Should you cancel in winter?

Missouri riders: what's required

Missouri requires liability insurance on motorcycles, along with uninsured motorist coverage, the same as cars. Underinsured motorist coverage is optional, and for riders it's one of the most important options on the policy. Kansas and Oklahoma riders: we're licensed there too, and the policy is written for the state where the bike is garaged.

Progressive and other motorcycle insurers

We're an independent agency, so we quote motorcycle insurance with Progressive and other companies that write bikes, and compare them side by side. Prices for the same rider and bike can differ widely between companies, especially for younger riders and sport bikes.
